Shoshana Tyson

Paul Tyson
As Emeritus Professor of Psychology at Brock University, Paul Tyson’s teaching and publications specialized in Perception, Neuroscience, and Eastern Philosophy. While a graduate student at the University of Waterloo, his interest in the visual arts crystallized resulting in early paintings and workshops. Teaching courses in perception gave him the opportunity to integrate examples from art history into lectures on colour, perspective, illusions, and Gestalt principles of organization. The principles of photography were used to explain how our eyes and brain focus the lens, correct for lighting, colour, and create the illusion of depth in pictures. In addition to painting in oils and acrylics, his current works include mixed media mosaics and artistic photography.
